HOW TO GET AROUND SAN FRANCISCO: TRANSPORTATION BASICS

Follow these tips and you’ll be the transportation hero of your San Francisco adventure.

GETTING TO SAN FRANCISCO FROM THE AIRPORT IS EASY WITH BART

The Bay Area Rapid Transit system (BART) is the fast, easy, low-cost way to get from San Francisco International Airport or Oakland International Airport to San Francisco.

Taxis

Taxi service is available throughout the city. From San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Moscone Center, current fares are approximately $65.00, one way with tip. From Oakland International Airport (OAK) to Moscone Center, current fares are approximately $80.00, one way with tip.

Uber/Lyft

You may use Uber or Lyft throughout the city of San Francisco, including to pick you up/drop you off at San Francisco International Airport. At SFO, you will be picked up curbside on the departures level of your terminal. Simply confirm your terminal and door number when requesting service via the app.

At Oakland International Airport, you will be picked up curbside at the “Smartphone App Rides” pickup area at 2E, which is located on the second curb from the terminal, separated by the island.

Bay Area Rapid Transit

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is the fast, easy, low-cost way to get to San Francisco from SFO or OAK. The BART fare from SFO to downtown San Francisco is only $8.95. Taking BART also avoids traffic and is only a half-hour ride from SFO to San Francisco.

Taking BART from OAK is the convenient, fast, inexpensive way to get to San Francisco from OAK. The 8-minute ride on sleek, new BART trains goes to the Coliseum station and connects to a BART train going to your final destination.
