Hilary Palotay is United Way’s Director of 2-1-1 National Initiatives and supports a nationwide network of United Ways and non-profit agencies that address over 14 million requests for assistance each year. Over 200 agencies operate 2-1-1, a free and confidential helpline that connects individuals in need with highly trained community specialists who navigate and empower individuals through the complex social services ecosystem.
Hilary’s primary role is developing cross sector initiatives with national partners and the the power of the 211 network, which brings to the table unparalleled community connections, a cadre of informed, caring staff and missions that reflect hyper-localized needs. Since joining the team in early 2019, Hilary has played a key role in the expansion of Ride United, a transportation access initiative that helps those in need overcome transportation barriers. This project has supported more than 34,000 free rides to clients to access healthcare, employment opportunities, public services and more. It has also provided more than 150,000 free food and essential goods deliveries to at risk populations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hilary also leads project work to address family homelessness and caregiver engagement.
