Alex Stamos has been at the helm of some of the world’s most powerful companies for the past half-decade and is widely regarded as one of the smartest people working in the security space. He is a business leader and entrepreneur working to improve the security and safety of the Internet. Before Facebook, he was Yahoo’s chief information security officer where he led the company’s response to the Snowden disclosures. During his time at Facebook, Stamos helmed a threat intelligence team charged with mitigating information security risks to the company and safety risks to the 2.5 billion people on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Stamos also led the company’s investigation into manipulation of the 2016 US election and helped pioneer several successful protections against these new classes of abuse. He is working on election security via the Defending Digital Democracy Project and advising NATO’s Cybersecurity Center of Excellence.
