The Regulatory Issues Forum will begin with remarks by Brock Long, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator to discuss an overview of FEMA's efforts during the historic 2017 disaster season, including lessons learned and plans for improving disaster response and risk mitigation. The Administrator will also talk about the future of the National Flood Insurance Program, and opportunities for NAR and FEMA to work together to build a culture of preparedness, close the insurance gap, and ready the nation for future catastrophic disasters.
The forum will also feature remarks by Craig Phillips, Counselor to Treasury Secretary Mnuchin. Mr. Phillips will broadly discuss Treasury’s plans for strengthening the U.S. economy through properly structuring regulation of the U.S. financial system, encouraging vibrant financial markets, and streamlining unnecessary regulatory burdens. Finally, the forum will feature a question and answer discussion with Maren Kasper, the Executive Vice President of Ginnie Mae. Ms. Kasper will explain issues impacting REALTORS® including disaster recovery efforts and responses, and pending rulemakings.
